Our Physical Education curriculum aims to ensure all pupils are inspired to achieve and thrive in a range of physical activities. It is designed to help pupils develop confidence in their physical abilities while supporting their overall health and fitness. We provide a broad programme of competitive and recreational opportunities through which pupils build character and learn key values such as fairness, respect, and teamwork.
The curriculum offers an alternative pathway to traditional academic subjects by developing practical, real-life, and transferable skills that support pupils beyond school. These skills include teamwork, self-management, resilience, creativity, problem-solving, and the ability to reflect on personal progress. Our approach helps to build self-esteem and self-control, equipping students with competencies that will last a lifetime. Pupils work towards meaningful and relevant qualifications that act as a strong foundation for post-16 pathways, ensuring they are well-prepared for their next steps in education, training, or employment.
This is delivered through a variety of teaching approaches, supportive and nurturing relationships, and a wide range of learning contexts to ensure all pupils can succeed, grow in confidence, and enjoy participating in physical activity. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every student can discover their strengths, develop their abilities, and experience the lifelong benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle.
