Our Year 11 students embarked on a fascinating journey into the past in January with a visit to the historic Derby Silk Mill, as part of their Humanities topic.  Students explored the changes to Derby as a result of the Industrial Revolution and were interested to see what part Derby Silk Mill played in this.

This trip provided a valuable opportunity to connect their humanities study to a real-world example of industrial heritage. The visit brought their classroom learning to life and they were able to produce a leaflet informing on the history of this industry and how it affected Derby and Derbyshire at the time.

We hope this experience has inspired our Year 11 students to further explore the fascinating world of history.
