Prevent Workshop
We have once again welcomed Dr Manny Barot and Jason Farmer to all 3 of our Respect Schools. Jason and Manny have had successful years in the police service and are part of The Prevent strategy through Derby City Council.
Schools have a duty to safeguard children from radicalisation and extremism. This includes:
- Protecting children from extremist and violent views
- Teaching children values such as tolerance and mutual respect
- Providing a safe place for pupils to discuss any issues
Jason and Manny have a wealth of knowledge and personal experiences of hate crime and both speakers always have a huge impact on staff and students. From racism, knife crime, gangs and drugs to the importance of listening, families and friends, being kind and believing in yourself, they are both incredible role models for all of our students. The feedback from students and staff who attended was overwhelmingly positive.
