Come and Support England Mixed Disability Cricket vs India This Summer!
Hi everyone,
For those who don’t already know, this summer I have the privilege of being one of the coaches leading the ECB England Mixed Disability Cricket Team in our international series against India.
The Mixed Disability team brings together players with impairments- deaf, learning disability and physical disability cricketers- all representing England with incredible pride, passion and determination. It is a fantastic example of how inclusive the game can be and how disability cricket continues to grow and develop across the country.
I wanted to share this with you as the tour starts right here in Derby, and it would mean a huge amount to both me and the players if we could attract a good crowd to support the team.
Derby Fixtures, Derbyshire County Ground (near Pentagon Island)
- Wednesday 5 August @ 2:30 pm start
- Friday 7 August @ 2:30 pm start
Disability cricket is continuing to grow at an incredible rate, and the more people who come along, watch, support and spread the word, the stronger the game becomes. These players are outstanding athletes who have worked incredibly hard to earn the opportunity to represent their country, and they deserve as much support and recognition as possible.
Remaining Tour Fixtures
- 12 August – Leicestershire County Ground, 2:30 pm
- 13 August – Hampshire County Ground (Hove), 2:30 pm
- 15 & 16 August – Arundel Castle
- 19 August – Lord’s Cricket Ground, 3:30 pm (Final Match)
If you’re unable to attend in person, you’ll still be able to follow the action. The matches will be streamed live on YouTube, and fixtures, scores and updates can also be followed through the ECB app and BBC Sport. There should also be an official ECB press release coming out soon which, if you are interested, I can share once it’s been published, as it will give further insight into the series and the fantastic work being done within disability cricket.
I’ve attached an article that was recently written about me, which provides a little more background on my journey within disability cricket, the work I do away from school, and my own coaching adventure. Hopefully it gives some context as to why this opportunity means so much to me personally.
There is absolutely no expectation for anyone to attend, but if you are free and able to come along to one of the games, particularly the Derby fixtures, your support would be hugely appreciated. Even if you can’t make it, sharing the information with family, friends or fellow cricket lovers would help us continue to raise the profile of disability cricket and showcase the amazing talent within the game.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Representing England is a tremendous honour for the players and coaching staff, and I am incredibly excited to be part of this journey. Hopefully I’ll see some of you at the cricket this summer.
